Santa Sleigh Rainbow Reindeer Merry Christmas Blanket – A Rainbow Trail Across the Christmas Moon
The Santa Sleigh Rainbow Reindeer Merry Christmas Blanket draws on two Christmas traditions with documented birthdays. Santa’s flying sleigh and team of eight reindeer first appeared in A Visit from St. Nicholas, printed anonymously in the Troy Sentinel of Troy, New York, on December 23, 1823, and the greeting A Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to You reached the public on the first commercial Christmas card in 1843.
Santa’s red sleigh, piled high with gifts, races past a glowing full moon behind four reindeer in red, green, blue and violet, leaving a rainbow of sparkle over a snowy village and stone bridge. Merry Christmas shines in rainbow script below, a reminder that the magic of the season is meant to be shared in every color.
